Insight uses a multi-disciplinary approach to understand human behaviour. Its most important benefit is that it helps organisations to prioritise interventions and make better decisions. This is because, thanks to having a much deeper understanding of the needs of different stakeholders, organisations can anticipate what actions will be more effective, while avoiding waste of resources.
How does it work?
impact™ is a social change management process that starts with properly segmenting stakeholders to identify their needs, attitudes and behaviours. This insight is used to define proper measures, design controlled interventions, analyse results, and finally find engaging ways to embed change in order to transform people’s lives.
Identify the needs of your stakeholders
We help define the scope of the desired social change and conduct research using a number of qualitative and quantitative insight techniques in order to deliver a true understanding of stakeholder needs:
- Context analysis of the social challenge
- Segmentation development to understand behaviours and how different groups will respond differently to interventions
- Customer journey design to identify the drivers and barriers of a particular behavioural challenge
- Identification of relevant behavioural insights useful to enact social change
Measure properly
Rather than purely focusing on identifying monetary contributions to social value, we prioritise wellbeing as the main social change goal.
We help you to define specific goals, outputs, outcomes and measures of success based on both the social challenge to tackle and the needs of your stakeholders identified in the previous stage.
Building from the Identify stage, we often do this at segment level, because we part from the fact that stakeholders have different needs and they cannot be treated all the same.
Plan for behaviour change
Working with clients, we plan with them ways to deliver social change using the power of the Behavioural Sciences, which, if used effectively, they can be used to drive the behaviour change much needed in our society to combat most social issues.
We consider different ways to influence behaviour, focusing on behaviour change techniques (BCTs) which are in turn delivered as part of controlled environments to help to isolate impact and generate a better understanding of the social challenge.
Act smartly
We help you identify innovative solutions to maximise social change and develop specific controlled interventions in the space of communications and marketing, product and service developments, engagement strategies and behaviour change techniques (BCTs).
We advise on the process of data collection to ensure data is gathered at critical points to facilitate a credible social impact measurement.
We map all interventions in line with your objectives and the needs of your stakeholders so that you can assess your overall social impact in the next stage ‘c’ (consider the consequences).
Consider the consequences
We help assess the results of interventions identifying outcomes and overall impact, gaining an understanding of SROI along with further insights about the change experienced in order to embed the change in the next stage.
This is an analysis stage where we look into real differences of behaviour through statistical analysis – by conducting pilots or trials including RCTs (Randomised Controlled Trials) where possible. When robust controlled environments are not able to be set up, we focus on the analysis of ‘before-and-after’ designs and use qualitative analysis and interpretation to fully understand the change.
Transform lives
We work with clients to design tools that will help them embed social change across a range of stakeholders, focusing on meeting the organisation’s specific social objectives to ultimately transform people’s lives and increase their wellbeing.
We do this via a number of engagement approaches. This often requires polishing quantitative insights with qualitative approaches to develop stories and planning insight communications in different ways to inspire relevant stakeholders to get involved in the wider challenge of transforming people’s lives.
